As human
being got civilised through the ages, each of the civilisations has given
a very important diversion to their creativity and each has used clay
to give shape to their creativity, whether it were the Egyptians, the
Babylonians, the Chinese or the Indians. Perhaps the most important invention
was the potter’s wheel. |

The art of clay is as old as the man himself. Since the remotest past, men have loved to make figures in clay. It is the material most easily available, versatile and organic, lending itself any shape and responsive to the slightest touch. Since time immemorial, men have learned to use and vent their creativity through baked and burnt clay – that is, the terracotta. The tradition is still on at the R. M. Terracotta Pottery House (National Award winner 2006), led by Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul, and we have created a niche for ourselves as the creators of spectacular clay artefacts – both useful and artistic.
We are a house of traditional potters and creators of various clay terracotta items, some of which have been awarded prizes at various competitions, both at the District and State level and on 7th October 2006 we won the National Award. Be it the traditional pottery or the innovated ones – we try to give our customers and terracotta lovers – the best. We give shape to murals; flower vase; planters; utility pots like candle, pen, brush, spoon, spice pots; terracotta ornaments, wall pots; clay animal figures; table and hanging lampshades and other products. We, at R. M. Terracotta Pottery House have kept it in mind that our customers enjoy the modern taste without hampering the essence of the traditional craft. Our terracotta artefact shall beautify your home like any other artistic creation. Many rural qualified traditional craftsmen, who have come from traditional potters’ family, work in this unit. They give shape to their creativity here at R. M. Terracotta besides doing the traditional pottery. All of them have a special interest in terracotta. We all took our first lesson in terracotta from our parents. The R. M. Terracotta Pottery House had a traditional family workshop where the first innovative designs got shape. We were thoughtful in inventing some new outlook by which we can make the potters’ items more glamorous.
Now it is up to you to grade us. We also undertake customised orders for any type of terracotta items and murals. We also undertake export orders directly. Mail us your queries. |
